Manually placing portals and occluders is one thing. Manually editing the PVS set is another.

Interface?
can be a 3D window (SDL or auxOpenGL), the map rendered as wireframe white, with areas beyond the PVS wireframe gray. The mouse can navigate this area and add/remove wires/tris from gray to white. The numpad can be usefull to navigate this word. Press (s) to save, press (l) to load. (t) can be usefull to retarget to nearest node or whatever is posible to retarget on PVS tree. (I know very littel about PVS itself)

I know a vis tool that cutdown vis area removing far polys (beyond a circular area), usefull for mods with fog (like the old Turok). Already seen in this mailist.
