This wouldn't even be a problem if some servers run occasional skins for
their admins or players but there are plenty of mods (aka ze = zombie
escape and zombiemod for example) and many other servers that use custom
skins and other custom stuff. But this issue has been raised before and
nothing was done back then so don't hold your breath. It's not on top of
the buglist.

I have also encountered this and have had other players report invalid
custom models. To recreate is just as ics has explained.

I absolutely hate this bug. It doesn't just apply to models, but to
sounds as well.
From what I've heard, changing from sv_pure 1 to sv_pure 0 to sv_pure
1 with a different whitelist works properly, but it's a pain to have
to switch servers twice to do it.
P.S. Thanks Normaan for bringing this up... I was just thinking about
bringing this up again.

You did not understand because you have never seen the issue. Lets
say there's a "SERIOUS clan server" server that you play on that has
sv_pure 1 or 2 on (propably 2). Then you join to ANY server that
runs custom models, like "Swing's cool skins" that may or may not
have pure on, if it's on, it has whitelist. This is the point when
you see the errors. You will not see them if you play on custom
model server without pure or a single server but if you join any
pure 1/2 server and then go to server like this, it will happen and
restarting game is only fix.

I use custom models and I've never encountered the issue. Hrm.

I guess he is referring to this:
1) join a server with sv_pure 1 or 2
2) join another server with custom models and sv_pure 0 (or
sv_pure 1 and a proper whitelist)
3) enjoy seeing ERROR models everywhere
Only workaround is restarting CSS/TF2

This is a very old bug and has not yet been fixed.
There have been many topics posted here but Valve has
yet to acknowledge this issue.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
