Since CentOS 5.x the kernel timer is 1000hz by default. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ulrich Block Sent: Tuesday, 1 June 2010 4:39 PM To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Is 64-bit worth it?
I do not know if this works for CentOS too but even with the Debian or Ubuntu standart kernels you are able to run ~1000 fps in a 64bit enviroment. The reason for this is that they enabled the high res timer in the kernel config. With it the fps_max is not limited with the kernel hertz anymore.
