Neumann did 3 recordings of the 5th symphony. 2 with the Czech Philharmonic
(1977 Supraphon & 1993 Canyon) & 1 with the Gewandhaus Orchestra (1966
Eterna/ Peter Damm perhaps?)

The Scherchen/Philadelphia recording is from the orchestra's 1st ever Mahler
5 performances. Unfortunately, Scherchen takes a bunch of cuts, including
parts of the scherzo IIRC. His excuse was that the work might be too long &
complex for Philadelphia audiences. However, the Boston Symphony under
Leinsdorf played the symphony complete only a few weeks earlier on tour in
Philadelphia!
