no you can't. because between the camera and Hugin there are lots of step you
don't control. This kind of expectation is what gives software the reputation
of being for techies only.
I expect that first time users (even people planning on doing more
advanced projects) will photograph a JPEG panorama with a point and
shoot camera and try to stitch it in Hugin.
If I do this with my pocket LX3 then Hugin just works, it figures
out the field of view, exposure and orientation without any hassle
every time. Usually I don't even bother locking the exposure or
white balance because Hugin/enblend will sort it all out.
People who use fisheyes, manual lenses, scanned negatives, RAW
files, digital backs, etc... (i.e. 'techies') generally need to
understand some of what they are doing to get good results out of
Hugin.
There are plenty of places where Hugin can be improved for all
levels of users, but these days the EXIF metadata generated by
consumer devices is reliable enough to let Hugin stitch a panorama.
