Is it your contention that training an application programmer to read a SYSUDUMP is easier than training him to use IPCS? I don't buy it.

I am not defending a lack of training -- just theorizing that "we would have to train everyone in IPCS" is a management concern. Granted, no one was born with SYSUDUMP debugging skills. What about the various tools out there? Abend-AID and the like are not sufficient? (No dog in this fight; I don't work for Compuware.) IPCS or SYSUDUMP seem like pretty "big deal" tools for finding the COMP-3 field that has spaces in it. But I have heard of sincere admin objections to application programmers' use of AMASPZAP, ADRDSSU, and CMS DDR.
