Well, I'm going to admit I DO DEPEND on my stirrups, and I would hasten to say the majority of riders do, too. Now, I can drop them for a couple of spins around an arena, or for an hour lesson, but in real life and on real rides, I use my stirrups. After all, that's what they are there for.
