Now that I think about it, it shouldn't be that difficult to get an external modem, although I'd still prefer not to for space conservation reasons. Still, I could most likely get a USB hub, and that would solve my 2 USB port problem easily enough. I called a local computer store today (the only one that appears to be open) and they want $120 for labor, and an unspecified $100-200 for a new modem. That's a no go. Better to bite my pride and get an external than pay over $300 just for a modem card. Re: broadband; I have put some though into it as of late, maybe it's finally time to take the plunge. You do bring up a valid point, for the dial up, second line, and everything else, broadband is just as viable an option. Thanks for all help given, Brian
P.S. I still can figure out what this diagnostic CD you speak of. Any hints on what it looks like/ is labeled as?
