P.S. I still can figure out what this diagnostic CD you speak of. Any hints on what it looks like/ is labeled as?

I think we've determined that your machines didn't come with it. It's a labeless CD that says "Apple Hardware Test CD" right on it. It came with the later-model CRT iMacs and may comes with the current ones as well. It's really just a rebranded/reworked version of Micromat's Tech Tool Pro.

"That the PC world would doggedly stick to a dull, unimaginative, clinical term like 'IEEE 1394' (notice how it just rolls off the tongue - NOT) for the sole purpose of *saving a few pennies* over using an imaginative, exciting, visually-stimulating term like 'FireWire' tells you EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW about the PC world and that whole industry-wide mindset." - Me, March 2003
