They must have been well aware this suit was coming, too. It doesn't help that Jobs, a huge fan of the Beatles, has admitted he named his computer company after their record label.
Really? Where? I've heard that as an anecdote, but never have I seen an actual quote. The story I've heard was that the Steve's couldn't come up with a name and Steve was eating an Apple and said, "If we can't think of anything, let's call it 'Apple.'"
I would suggest to all and sundry that the definitive word on this actually appears in the book APPLE CONFIDENTIAL by Owen W. Linzmayer. He quotes Woz saying that Jobs was inspired to name the company "Apple Computer" after the communal farm Jobs had just been working at during the summer -- picking apples.
The recollection from Woz goes on to say that Jobs might also have been influences by Apple Records, and that the thought of copyright problems did cross Woz's mind -- but until 1981, they had no trouble from Apple Corps.
