No, but there's a distinct possibility that one of your RAM slots is
bad. You might try just moving the one you have into the other slot

Yeah. You can mix PC100 and PC133 in most models, but to avoid issues
I usually match the two sticks as closely as possible.
but then now, which speed to choose from would be best CL2 or CL3??
To the best of my knowledge, that vintage of iMac ONLY likes CL2.
I've tried all the permutations of the numbers printed on the chip's
side and don't come up with diddleysquat on it's specs a'tall, sos it
must indeed be a CL3. I will now be on a search for one(or maybe 2)
with CL2 stated right on it(or them, $s considered :-/hmm..).
