All of mine lines in that filer were REM and is now except for
these lines at the bottom of the file,
C:\Winnt\system32\config.nt:
dos=high, umb
device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys
files=128
shell=%SystemRoot%\system32\command.com /e:4096
I think I changed the file and rebooted. Then I again made the
changes per the DQ instructions and have never had another popup.
I didn't think it would work really but I had just happened on
that MS page and thought I'd try it since it was such an issue.
We were talking about moving to a different mail server at the
time.

Yes, it makes one a bit paranoid especially when everyone else
apparently was able to solve the problem with just the dq
instructions.
I hope it works for you. It was a nightmare for us until we
solved it. Every time 80 to 100 messages would hit the server
at the same time the popups started. They varied. Sometimes it
would be nvida or smtp or declude (early on) or Sniffer or something else.
At some point Scott made it so that declude never came up but we
still would get the others. If one ever came up then they just
proliferated until the server would die and I'd have reboot it -
frequently from the boot box.
But as far as I know I am the only other person who had to do this to
get it working. And literally dozens of people or more solved the
issue with just the dq instructions.
