Yes--it shows properly. When used independently as a separate letter, it
is perfect. And when it is combined with vowels, it also shows
perfectly.

ৰ ৰা ৰি ৰী ৰু ৰূ ৰে ৰৈ ৰো ৰৌ

The problem I am facing, is that it is not combining properly with
consonants. When typed as the first letter of a conjunct, as soon as the
second letter of the conjunct is typed the sequence of the two becomes
reversed, with the ৰ appearing as the second member of the conjunct.

In Bengali there are seven conjuncts where the first letter is "b" [bj,
bd, bdh, bb, by, br, bl]-- and these are not rendering properly.

For example, when I type the word "brahma", it comes out as
"rbahma": ৰ্রহ্ম |  So:

br ৰ্র
bl ৰ্ল্
by ৰ্য

I do not know how these letters are appearing on your screen. When using
bn-baraha.mim and I type "br" in gedit, it comes out with the Bengali
letters reversed like "rb". But when I paste that into this plain text
email, it is appearing different-- as the second letter with a reph on
top-- which is still wrong rendering. When I change the email format to
html, then it appears as it did in gedit. Anyhow, it is definitely not
functioning properly in combination with other consonants to form
conjuncts.

With "b" as the second letter of a consonant-consonant conjunct there is
also problem, but not as severe as when it is the first member of the
conjunct. As the second member it does retain its place in the second
position, but does not combine properly with the first letter.

Yes, this is working perfectly.

Thank you so much. So it is just the consonant-consonant conjuncts with
"b" that there is some problem. Can you suggest what can be done to
resolve this?

Many thanks,
Swarup
