Thanks for the quick response...

I've added a line "options ivtv newi2c=0" to my /etc/modules.conf
without success... How do I see in my dmesg output that the
option was activated?

I'm right now compiling a new kernel and ivtv-0.4.0 to start
the tests at which version my sound starts failing...
