There' has been a bit of mess with quotes. The above sentence apparently
from Eric is from me. In my previous post I wrote:
"At the past J1, I was surprised to see jigsaw postponed to Java 8"
which clearly implies that I was referring to modularization in Java 8.
In any case, just to clarify my attribution of "political" etc... I
meant that I think that Sun in the past had a political attitude against
OSGi. I can remember that in the first months I was member of the NBDT I
raised the OSGi question (which at the time I was completely ignorant of
- not that today I'm an expert) about NetBeans, as part of a comparison
with Eclipse. I'm sure that at the time the response from Sun was
negative, that is there was no need to support OSGi. Since a few years
later Sun went decisively towards OSGi, both for Glassfish and NetBeans,
I attribute the change of direction to a political change. Of course,
it's just my opinion.
