As a criminal justice major I do not find these issues totally anti-libertarian
The use of a mailbox for delivery by anyone other than the USPS is a federal
crime.because do u want some stranger placing a bomb in there or a neighbor you
got mad to toss some sh-- in there that you would want you kid to open and
freak out??
just my opinion but the USPS has to get funding somewhere. Where do you think
it should be getting its funds from?

Just a few things about the USPS that make it very anti-Libertarian:

1. the USPS receives federal subsidies, sometimes billions each year. They
are *not* self supporting.
2. Federal law makes it a crime for anyone other than the USPS to deliver
first class or 3rd class mail, unless they charge a minimum of $3.00 or 3
times what the USPS charges (whichever is higher) per letter.
3. The use of a mailbox for delivery by anyone other than the USPS is a
federal crime.

Alot of people will point to the USPS as an example of what efficient
government could be. We must be diligent in pointing out why this is a good
reason for getting government out the business altogether.

You wanna quick lesson on the vast difference between govt and
private enterprise? Just go to a big post office when it's busy.
(Even though the post office is the most libertarian of all govt
agencies [at least it supports itself through a real service], it
still shows the contrast.) Now look at the faces of the employees
behind the counters dealing with the public. None will likely be
smiling or hurrying. The whole atmosphere is significantly worse
(depressed and apathetic) than most similar sized businesses that
deal with the public. Private businesses are more pleasant and
cordial and aiming to please and compete.
