The USPS shouldn't be getting any funding at all. It should be fully privatized and forced to compete in the free market.
Placing bombs in mailboxes and using them in other ways that are destructive are criminal acts regardless of whether or not mailboxes are allowed for uses other than mail delivery. What you are suggesting is very much akin to suggesting that we make it a Federal crime to use an automobile for anything but running errands or going to the office because a kid might use one for joyriding and drunk driving. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of allie rodgers Sent: Friday, June 30, 2006 5:39 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Libertarian] Re: Youthful Entrepreneurs As a criminal justice major I do not find these issues totally anti-libertarian The use of a mailbox for delivery by anyone other than the USPS is a federal crime.because do u want some stranger placing a bomb in there or a neighbor you got mad to toss some sh-- in there that you would want you kid to open and freak out?? just my opinion but the USPS has to get funding somewhere. Where do you think it should be getting its funds from? They are *not* self supporting. 2. Federal law makes it a crime for anyone other than the USPS to deliver first class or 3rd class mail, unless they charge a minimum of $3.00 or 3 times what the USPS charges (whichever is higher) per letter. 3. The use of a mailbox for delivery by anyone other than the USPS is a federal crime. Alot of people will point to the USPS as an example of what efficient government could be. We must be diligent in pointing out why this is a good reason for getting government out the business altogether. New Message Search Find the message you want faster.
