"We" are not at the mercy of those groups - we are the
groups ( that forms jakarta ).
The library is composed from commiters from existing
jakarta projects. Right now everyone here is
part of at least on of the projects you mentioned.
And the library will be composed from code from
existing projects, that will probably be maintained
by the projects that use it ( the same way as
it is today ) and by new people interested
in the component ( from other jakarta projects ).
And the main problem that the library is trying to
solve is this kind of attitude.
I don't think anyone asked us to write some components -
just to find a way to avoid duplication and refactor the
common code so that more people can use it. Code that
we developed as part of individual projects and we try
to share with other projects with similar needs.
