Although this is a bit off topic, I would like to share an experience in
this area.

When saving images in Photoshop as 16 bit, Photoshop seems not to be able to
do dithering.
In fact, Director does it much better if You convert a 32 bit to 16 in the
Paint window

However, using deBabelizer to convert 32 to 16 bit makes a world of
difference. deBabelizer does wonderful dithering and creates 16 bit images
with very higt quality from 32 bit.

I always "clean" my 32 bit images with deBabelizer before using them in
Director. This has significally improved image quality and performance as
well as reduced the file size of my projects. I would say that deBabelizer
is a "must have" if You work a lot with bitmap graphics. Of course
deBabelizer also has a zillion other great functions for manipulating, bit
depth, resolution, scaling etc, that comes in handy all the time.
