About 5 years ago, I ran across a company..... Their deal was that you sent them a PDF file and they would fax it. At that time, their market was broadcasting a fax to thousands (or more) sites (kind of sounds like spam for fax, nowadays).
But it makes me wonder if this company or others, may have a service that companies can use (for a fee of course). Not directly what you are looking for, but it may be better then hooking up a bunch of business lines back into your mainframe (like in the days of the modem bank). Back when I had a fax system at home, the fax modem was connected to an RS-232 serial port on my PC. Is it even possible to attach a serial modem directly to a zSeries channel or some box on a zSeries channel? OK, I remember doing this in the deep, dark past using an NTO gen on a 3705.
