Subject: Fax Server
Currently, we are using a Windows based product to handle our e-
faxes.
Does anyone know of or run a Linux based fax server on z/Series?

Are you sure you'd really want to do this on a zSeries? Back when I
had
a fax system at home, the fax modem was connected to an RS-232 serial
port on my PC. Is it even possible to attach a serial modem
directly to
a zSeries channel or some box on a zSeries channel? OK, I remember
doing
this in the deep, dark past using an NTO gen on a 3705. Many years
ago.
Talk about channel and CPU overhead!
Well, he is saying "e-faxes" which may mean that they come in as
attachments on an email or something.
I know that SuSE used to push Hylafax pretty heavily at least on
x86. Check out http://www.hylafax.org/ ; if you're doing actual
faxes, you probably want to set up your fax modem on a network-
attached PC and push stuff out to it. But in that case, you probably
want to be doing the image processing there as well, because x86
cycles are cheaper than s390 cycles.
