Hi,

Yes, I have tried the BeOS 5. I have successfully installed it on my
m/c, and guess what it is one of the fastest and best graphical OS ( just
about next to Linux ), I have used. You wouldn't believe it but I
downloaded the entire OS even before CHIP could distriibute it. It was a
huge 43 MB download, but it was worth it. It could be the next best
competitor to Windo'ze if only they could make it open source. Please put
me posted on the news about this amazing OS as well as the BE lists.

Sorry guys, please don't flame me. Couldn't help resisting this one. ( I am
new to the list anyway ). I am appreciating this OS only because it
auto-detected all my system components, which Linux hasn't been yet able to
do. ( It's almost about a month since I have been trying to get my YAMAHA -
YMF724 ( PCI ) sound card configured, but have been unable to do it as
yet. ). Just downloaded ALSA yesterday, will give it a try. ( If anybody's
been successful, please mail me the procedure ). I did search the arch's
but all of them have a Yamaha - OPL s/c.

Also, I managed to play 6 mp3's and 2 videos simultaneously on BeOS, and
still keep working on it. ( Let's see doze' do it.)

For those interested, I have a P!!! - 450 with 128 MB SD ( 100 MHz ) and a
ZX m/b.

Bye,
Kisalay.
