Hi Francois,

I know also Linus >> complain about the totally lack of organization of the IrDA Linux >> guys. > >> But, well, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THEM, I not pay for IrDA and >> Linux so it's okie with them, I just wonder why they are unable to >> update a horrible and simple Soundforge page with the latest >> drivers and utils. That's pretty simple update a web page Linux >> style... LOL > Massimo, I guess here, you're going too far. :-( What I say in the sentence before is a matter of fact. No flame at all. Do u wanna know what I discovered myself this afternoon in a couple of hours? If u disable the plug & play stuff when u boot your kernel (press Esc at a Lilo Prompt and type nobiospnp) the SIR drivers load very well (and work too!!!!!!!!! Automagically... :-((((((((((((((((() over my Dell Inspiron 8100; they also get along very well with the Maestro sound drivers... LOL, I think a programmer like Brattli (I know he have a Dell too) HAVE TO BE ABLE to understand such a banal thing himself... Remember: NO FLAME if he not do it, and no flame if he not wanna take care of the IrDA pages. He is not payed for it, and I think this is the key. No flames also if he is not a good programmer ( I NOT SAY HE IS A BAD PROGRAMMER JUST TO BE CLEAR): no one pay him for what he do and to be a good programmer. So, if Linux programmers do what they do, it's not for me, but just for themself, like I discovered the IrDA issue for myself and not for others. I can share with others, but I did for myself, becouse I'm also not payed for it. And Linux is not a proper professional OS, but just a pile of separate things put together. The pay stuff is a key in our lives... Remember. Microsoft do great OS becouse they are professionals working on it. They have a goal and they are payed for it. >I'm very grateful and I have a lot of respect for those guys that >develop for Linux. As I stated before, I just respect them like any other human beings. > I come from the OS/2 world, and would not like to >have no choice but Windows. Yep, this is good and this is your choice, like my choice was - way back in 1 9 9 2 to learn about Linux myself too. And I still used it right now, sometimes, for the things that Linux is good for, like web serving and stuff like that. But I do not have big pieces of meat on my eyes like many computer geeks and Unix freaks :-)))), and an OS is not like a lover... LOL LOL LOL I not fuck my Linux box... LOL LOL LOL > I know nothing about IrDA, but I try to >understand. Actually I try to make my laptop and portable phone to >work together. Good luck, LOL... Now for me it's pretty simple, but with the current documentation and the support of this group I think it's hard time for yourself. Feel free to ask myself in private if you need help becouse the last revision of the IrDA HOWTO is laughable in my opinion. > I know it works out of the box using Windows, but >Windows doesn't satisfy me, Linux does. Thats' cool, it's your choice! Like it's my choice to learn Linux too. I'm happy you are happy. :-))) >Why are you speaking about the fact you don't pay for Linux. This has >nothing to do with the fact that people use Linux. For me, partially it have. I like to be correct with license, so I not use Windows on machines where I not have a valid license. Linux is the second choice, I not pay for it!!! So I use to put it on the machines I have no Windows license and I put it on machines of friends that not wanna pay for a proper OS. > I do not use Linux >because it's free, I use it because it gives me a lot of >satisfaction. I repeat, it's cool! And, well, it also help in this days have some Linux skills, also if just few professionals use them.
