you know... the sad thing about this whole thread is that it has completely missed the point of the original question. somehow i end up getting a lecture on the quality of corporate software. let me reiterate my question. linux's irda stack has a better api and some functionality that i require. windows does not. hence, WEAKER because i require it. i asked if it would be possible to port or rewrite the linux irda stack to a windows driver because i would like to make my application portable. if you really need to know, the application talks to medical devices (infusion pumps, ventilators, ecg's) using the ieee 1073/iso 11073/cen tc 251 standards. windows is not capable of allowing applications to comply with those standards because the stack lacks somefunctionality. now please... stop the lecture/defense/rant/rhetoric/dogma/etc. its off topic.
