right... better code ;) i'm not really sure why there are so many issues
connecting to devices. i'm sure alot of the reasons have to do with basic
setup and people not doing it right the first or second (or third time). i'm
fairly certain that alot of companies just use the default M$ stack for
testing their devices too - so maybe the problems aren't really with the irda
stack, but something that manufacturers have worked around to work with
windows. irda's really a desktop protocol so that makes some sense.

actually, i know there's a new web page in the works, and this sounds like
good web page material: what devices has linux irda been known to connect to
and been known to have problems with? what are the reasons for those
problems? how can they be worked around? who's working on that? jean, dag,
claudiu, what do you think - a little database where users can lookup the
devices they want to connect and see if its been tested, how well it works,
how to make it work, etc?

anyway, the problem i'm discussing isn't the performance of the irda stack
(which is fine from what i can tell) or the quality and uses of either
operating system. i actually have a non-desktop, mission critical application
that requires more irda stack support than M$ provides. i'd also like my
application to be portable. i know the linux irsock api pretty well and would
like to be able to take that extended functionlity to windows.
