Please don't say that it is a comment that shouldn't have been made.
Think about the cost of a new modem - its less than the cost of your
previous OS, or the upgrade to Vista, or the hardware upgrade to run
Vista. 

By the way how did you go with the eciadsl driver that you were pointed
to? There is documentation on the site. Not ideal but I have made it
work before.
