It is a good idea for you to make sure that whatever distribution you 
install, it will be compatible with the laptop hardware. Most distros 
do have hardware compatibility lists on their websites.

Often, leading edge laptop components do not yet have Linux drivers, 
because for the most part, hardware manufacturers are unwilling to 
give Open Source developers enough information about the design of 
their hardware, to write drivers.

The situation is the same for all new computers, but worse with 
laptops, because they are much harder to swap hardware in.

After the hardware has been in circulation for about a year or two, 
there is a better chance that it will have Linux drivers on the 
install CD's for most distros.
