No dual booting Vista and Linux is easy provided you use the Windows 
'Volume shrinking' program to free up space for your Linux and install 
it on this free space. I have tried Easy BCD and it's more complicated 
than just doing as above. Using other partitioning programs to 
accommodate Linux with Vista is risky as Microsoft has somehow altered 
its file system. All of the Linux flavours I tried with the exception of 
Memphis correctly adjusted the Grub bootloader to include mu Vista 
partition.

With the Vista 'Shrinking Volune' tool you can only reduce to 50%, there 
is no option as to size, but it is the safest way to start off with.
