Here's an example: Start an Ubuntu group in your city. To do that, start by designing a flyer. Design it at a Global Jam. After you design it, take to the streets and post a bunch of copies. After that's done, take everyone to a pub, restaurant or someplace fun. > >> having fun, and building interest in Ubuntu > Global Jams are an on-ramp for new contributors to Ubuntu, and help > build interest in that way. I'd like to see some stats on how many people began contributing to Ubuntu as a result of a Global Jam.
In my experience, those who are already contributing are the ones most likely to show up to a "let's build Ubuntu" event. "End-user" is not a term that I accept. Do we really want an "us" and "them" stance in Ubuntu? Is that consistent with our ethos? > > Global Jams have traditionally had the wonderful property that people > end up making things that they can then point to as tangible > contributions to Ubuntu (bug reports, translations, posters, > documentation, ...). Building (or making) excitement about Ubuntu, which is either unknown, or misunderstood by most people in our cities is also an example.
