Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to today’s Levy Letter. I hope you’re well.
I’m off today, so tonight at half past six, I hope you will join Tim Iredale as
he hosts the programme.

On Look North tonight, Tim will be getting the latest on the investigation into
the murder of Hull College student, Rebecca Love. Following today’s court
appearance by a fellow student, we’ll be getting the latest on this.

Also on the programme, today the Ministry Of Defence are launching a new low
flying exercise. I'll be meeting the Lincolnshire businesswoman, who says they
are putting lives at risk with their low flying policies. We’ll be getting her
point of view tonight.

Find out how you can help design a new logo for our region's spectacular
coastal area, Flamborough Head. It’s in aid of boosting tourism and promoting
our superb coast line. So find out how you can get involved in that tonight.

And we’ll be meeting some incredibly busy people from our region, whose spare
time is taken up by their hobbies. There’s the particularly green fingered
gardener from Beverley, who's set to create a storm at this year's Chelsea
Flower Show. And the North Lincolnshire teenager, who's one of the country's
youngest cricket umpires. And if you're mad about models, then we've got just
the thing for you tonight. We'll be getting a peak at an incredible collection
of model railways with one Gainsborough enthusiast. So that’s all tonight on
BBC one at half past six with Tim Iredale. And Paul will have today’s forecast,
so I hope you can join Tim at six thirty.

Weekend

Well, it was a lovely long weekend and there’s some good news that there’ll be
another bank holiday weekend coming up in a couple of weeks. Let’s hope the
weather is better for that one. Whatever you got up to at the weekend, then I
hope it went very well indeed.

There were spectacular scenes on Sunday in Scunthorpe as football fans
celebrated The Iron’s fantastic success and promotion into the Championship.
The players and manager, Nigel Adkins, travelled through the town on an open
top bus and then finished their celebrations at Normanby Hall. So
congratulations to Scunthorpe United and all the fans. I’m sure it was a day to
remember for them.

If you’re involved in a Spring Fair or any type of event for charity, or a
local amateur society and you’d like a little plug in the Letter, then all
you’ve got to do is to drop me a line. It’s the usual address of [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

This is a very busy weekend coming up. Starting on Friday for the whole weekend
is Pocklington’s Flying Man Festival. It’s to celebrate the Flying Showman of
Pocklington and there are lots of events running all weekend, including teddy
bear abseiling. So pop along to Pocklington this weekend.

Also in Hull this Saturday is A Mile For Maude. It’s in aid of sudden infant
death syndrome and there’ll be lots of families and children walking one mile
through East Park for that cause. So best wishes to all the organisers of those
two events, and please let me know if you’ve got an event coming up that’s
close to your heart.

Fame

Hull and Grimsby are doing so well for top entertainment at the theatres at the
moment. I’ve been looking through some of the shows coming up and we really are
doing very well. I had quite a few emails saying how much people had enjoyed
Fame last week at the New Theatre. That’s the West End show that has been
celebrating ten years on tour. And also the great musical, Starlight Express,
is on its way to Hull soon. I know the music, but I have never seen the show
before, and I’ve been told that it’s very spectacular, so I’m looking forward
to that one.

Photos

If over the weekend you’ve taken any really great photos that you think other
Look North viewers would like to see, then send one to me and I’ll try and show
it one night. It’s one of the popular bits of the programme. I can’t believe
how many pictures come in daily. We've been doing the feature now for what must
be two years! If you have a good one, then send it to me. I’d like either a
hard copy in the post or send it to me by email. It’s the usual address of
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Tetford

Just a little well done now to everyone involved in the Tetford Scarecrow
festival, which has been on for the last three days. I gather it was a huge hit
and there were some very good scarecrows on show. Plus there were a load of
stalls and Morris dancers as well yesterday. So well done to the Tetford
Scarecrow festival organisers!

Humber Half Marathon

It’s getting closer. The Humber Half Marathon is on its way. It’s on Sunday
24th June. It’s all for a very good cause and Paul and I will be there to start
this year’s marathon. I won’t be running it I assure you! But best of luck if
you are. I hope your training is going well. Let me know if you are running it.
Get in touch and let me know your tactics! If you can make it along on Sunday
24th June, then I’m sure the runners would appreciate your support and
encouragement! Pop along to the Humber Bridge. Come and join us at half past
nine in the morning. Make a note in your diary!

Nurses

We talked about MRSA on the programme last week and reported on the
breakthrough with a new bandage which is resistant to the infection. Well I had
many emails from people who were disgusted at the state of cleanliness in our
hospitals and saying that they often saw nurses going home on the bus or in
their car still in their uniforms. Since then I've had a lot of response from
nurses, who are fighting back. One here from a nurse, whose name I won’t print.
She says that nurses often have nowhere to change, no lockers and they have no
option. She goes on to say that there should be better facilities for nurses.
The feelings on this one seem to run high and I am sure it’s one that we shall
return to at a later date. Don't forget if there is something you feel strongly
about or have a view on, then just drop me an email to the usual address. It’s
[EMAIL PROTECTED] as usual. Get in touch.

Well, that's it from me. Short and sweet today as I am on a day off, but don't
forget to join Tim
Iredale tonight at half past six. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Have a lovely
day.

Bye for now,

Peter
