Hello, it's Peter here, thank you for joining us and welcome to today’s Levy
Letter. I hope you’ll be able to join us tonight for Look North at half past
six, we'll have all the day's news and of course the forecast from Paul as
usual.

On the show tonight we have two special reports on the RAF in Lincolnshire.

We have an exclusive on the future of RAF Coningsby’s Jaguar squad.

And the latest on the campaign to keep the Red Arrows flying in Lincolnshire.
It’s an issue that means a lot to people in our part of the world with a lot of
support for keeping the iconic team in our region. We’ll look at recent
developments.

We have a special report on one mum forced to turn to charity to help her
disabled son get the facilities he needs.

We'll have the latest twists and turns in the saga of Paul Cooke's transfer to
Hull KR from Hull FC.

Find out how climate change is affecting the Spalding flower festival.

And find out why a group of hand bell ringers need my help.
That’s all coming up on the show tonight on BBC One at six thirty.

Emails

Thanks for the emails on a variety of subjects. We had loads from rugby fans on
the story of Paul Cooke, but loads of other issues as well. Thank you for all
of them, and every single one gets read. If you’re part of an amateur group or
society and you’d like a plug, or if you’re involved with a charity event then
give me the details and we’ll try to put it in the letter. I’ve got one here
from Utterby at the primary school. This one says…

“We’re a small rural primary school with 45 children. We’re having an open day
on Wednesday 6th of June between 9:00 and 11:30, and then 1:30 and 3:00.”

That’s from Sue, who’s the chair of the PTA at the Utterby primary school. We
wish them well for their open day which is coming up. That’s on the 6th of June.

And we had a note from John Gregory,

“I wonder if there’s any chance of a mention about a documentary film being
made about Mablethorpe called ‘07 Visions. The Mablethorpe Marathon and
festival committee have joined forces with the Loewen Cinema for the project
and are asking for local people to make their own films to be incorporated into
the documentary.”

The documentary will be shown at a grand champagne gala at the cinema in
October. We wish the best of luck to them.

RSPCA

The RSPCA is saying there’s been a soar in the number of abandoned cats.
They’re often bought as a fashion accessory and then of course abandoned, which
seems so sad, but the numbers of abandoned cats is just huge at the moment. It
reminds me that a few weeks ago I was walking through Leeds and I saw this
woman wandering along with a small handbag with a dog actually inside the
handbag and the head popping out. I’ve seen this in magazines and things in
London. I thought it was a joke, but there it was for real in the centre of
Leeds.

Breafast

Eating fat food like a burger for breakfast can often cause stress later in the
day. Apparently the food to eat to have a cool and calm day is a bowl of
porridge. I don’t know if that means even in the summer, but there we are,
avoid fast food like a burger at breakfast time. It can give you stress later
in the day.

Canoes

I was very deflated – I think that’s the word - when I tried to go to a website
I found the other day to buy a two man inflatable canoe, desperate for one of
these, desperate to buy one. If anybody knows where to buy one then get in
touch with me and let me know, I would be very grateful.

Pride

I see that more than ever before we’re proud of the area where we live. I think
that’s very true. The internet makes the world seem so much more accessible,
but now we’re much more proud of our own particular area. I think that’s quite
right, and from people who write in, they’re very proud of our area and I think
we’re all proud of where we actually live. Certainly I am of Victoria Dock, and
I love to read anything, especially nationally, which is about our area…
providing it’s good.
I think as we can now fly to other parts of the world on budget airlines and we
can click on the internet and send a message to the other side of the world,
it’s made us much more proud of our own area than ever before.

If you’ve got any thoughts on that or indeed anything else then send it to the
usual address, it’s the same one of course for pictures and if you’ve got a
problem or anything you think we should know about on the programme, [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

Armbands

Thanks to everybody who’s commented on the RSPCA shop in Bridlington. Val
Emerson and Bunty Ellis sent us a couple of arm bands for Paul to wear. Paul
said he didn’t want them and called them “tat”. That seems to have upset
everybody, but I can assure you it was all said in jest. Well done to Val, and
everyone who works in the RSPCA shops across our region.
Well that’s it from me, don’t forget our new revamped website, it’s looking
good at www.bbc.co.uk/looknorthhull.
If you’re home late one night and you want to watch the Look North programme
and you’ve missed it at 6.30 then click on watch again and you can watch it any
time you like. Well that’s it from me, enjoy your afternoon and join me tonight
on BBC One at half past six. Bye for now.

Peter
