Hi there, its Peter here. Welcome to the start of another week and what a glorious day so far! Of course, we had all those emails and messages that people had been seeing daffodils and snowdrops popping up in their gardens. And I didnt quite believe that Spring was here but perhaps it is!
Tonight on the programme at half past six, we'll take a look at what provisions there are for young people in parts of East Hull. This comes as one resident tells us of his horrific story of being beaten up by a gang of youths rioting in his street. Well get both sides of the story tonight on the programme. Also tonight, find out which town in the region has the highest number in the country of parents, who dodge paying maintenance to their children. And we'll tell the success story of Thomas Turgoose, the young Grimsby actor, whose performance was key to his debut film winning a BAFTA in this year's ceremony. Did you watch last night? He got a wonderful mention in the producers acceptance speeches, so his family must be so proud of him. Well take a look at his career so far! Plus we'll be at the flower farm in Holbeach, who are growing millions of roses ready for Valentine's Day. There you go husbands and boyfriends theres the first reminder of the week to get your thinking caps on for how to surprise that special lady! And talking of Valentines Day were being encouraged not to send a card to our loved one this 14th February in order to save the environment! Instead amorous couples could send an e-card over the internet. What do you reckon? Sounds romantic or not! Fiddler On The Roof Its a wonderful musical this one and Skegness Musical Theatre Company are asking me for a plug for their new production of the famous show. Itll be performing in March on the 13th 15th at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness. And Marjorie Payne, the vice chairman of the company, said that theyve got the biggest cast theyve ever had for this with nearly fifty actors treading the boards! Theyre also having a flying sequence for the Dream Scene! So pencil those dates into your diaries for March for Fiddler On The Roof. Ibis On first glance, I thought Look north was getting popular with bird enthusiasts, but on closer inspection, perhaps not. Weve certainly had a great response about the story we ran last night about the glossy ibis thats visiting our region at the moment! But perhaps some people werent so enthusiastic. James wrote in to say, I enjoyed the item yesterday about the Glossy Ibis on the Lincolnshire coast at Saltfleet. I am a bird enthusiast, but I find the best place to see birds is the University of Lincoln, especially on a Friday evening. Well really James! And David from Brigg emailed in to ask, Anyone got a good recipe for Glossy Ibis? Thanks to you both! Im sure the real bird enthusiasts will have something to say about that! We Can Blame Our Genes We can diet and exercise all we like, but according to new research at University College London, there really is such a thing as a fat gene. Genetics in new born babies have more of an influence on that childs weight now and in its future years than upbringing, exercise or diet alone can do. But we cant directly blame the parents if their child puts on weight as, as much as three-quarters of the childs weight and waist measurements are determined by their genetic make-up. However, unfortunately, I dont think that means any of us can start tucking into scones and cream! Thats it from me for today. I hope youre well. Enjoy the sunshine this Monday. I hope it lasts!
