When the pass-code is up, twist your rotor once to the right, then enter the numbers on the screen as if you were printing them. this is actually a very secure way of entering the pass-code in public situations as the numbers are not announced aloud like they are when entering them in the normal way. Now, all this being said, Apple needs to fix the handwriting feature right now as well due to the fact that it defaults to lower case instead of numbers when the pass-code is ready to be entered. Swipe down with three fingers twice to change from lower case to numbers. Again, this is just a workaround, and Apple does need to fix the sound loss problem, as well as the handwriting silliness, but it does make it possible for a blind user to do things in multiple ways. If not, I believe that you'll need sighted assistance. A simple restart might do the trick, but if that doesn't cut it, then a restore should, but of course you'll need to have sighted assistance if you can't get VO going. Later... I did some testing this morning, and could not replicate the problem while using the iPhone without headphones. I made numerous outgoing calls, disconnected the call myself first, disconnected it first from the other phone, tried to disconnect simultaneously, all with no loss of sound. I thought that maybe since speaker routing was possibly a factor, I did the same while on speaker phone. Still no loss of sound. I tried the same scenarios on an a number of incoming calls and still did not lose sound. Again, since audio routing may be a factor, I enabled the "Auto-Detect Speaker In Call" feature under Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Audio. I still did not lose sound after ending the call in all the ways mentioned above. I did not try again with headphones on, but I was attempting to replicate the issue as others have explained it. I just must be bloody lucky right now as I'm not experiencing this problem and I certainly would find it frustrating, maybe even exasperating if I did have it happen as often as others have reported. I guess I'll just hope that the big boys at Apple figure it out soon so that this can be eliminated. Later...
