What way are you trying to delete the message as there are two ways of doing this. I was having lot’s of trouble deleting messages as well but it seems to have improved since 1.3. If you can’t delete it via the flick up or down method then close your messages app including in the app switcher and then go back into your messages app and find the messages more button near the top, open that and choose manage messages list. Then you can select whatever messages you want to delete and then go to the bottom of the list and find the delete button.
