Does anyone in fact "chant in support of Hamas"? Hamas radically revised their charter and see themselves firmly as part of the National Resistance. Early in the failed negotiations after Oct 7 they called for the release of Marwan Barghouti, who polling suggested would defeat Hamas in elections, and Ahmad Sa'adat, Gen Sec of The PFLP. We should not oversimplify Hamas, but should also be wary of past history.
