In my humble opinion there is an issue with a lack of clear understanding about
different Ops roles involved in a complex system such as Matterhorn, most of
the confusion and "miscommunication" here seems to come from this _critically_
missing discussion,documentation and matching action items (e.g. Define MH Ops
role, Document them, integrate them in MH Roadmap as a requirement not a
feature)
In regards to the Workflows I'm with Jonathan on this one, I've dealt with
"workflows" in several application (e.g. Podcast Producer) and each one has its
own interpretation of what a workflow means in the context of the application
itself. I think what is important outside of finding the answer to "is a
Workflow a universal concept?" is that it _must be documented properly relative
to the application_ i.e. in a way that is validated by the documentation target
and not by the folks deciding what a workflow will be.
As someone that just spent several days trying to figure out Matterhorn
Workflows, let me assure you that what's in the wiki is very far from "ideal".
To go back to the Ops personas, this is something I've _tried_ to raise
awareness for quite a while, during the last unconference at Oxford in
particular.
I've put my thoughts on that topic in writing and I'd be happy to share them
with the community in which case a JIRA ticket comment wouldn't probably be the
best place, maybe we could move this discussion to list and/or a wiki page for
documentation?
