I can't tell you the exact attraction but in is all to do with how atoms in
the hydrocarbon chains(that consitute the oil) bond with the metal atoms
that make all the internal parts in the engine. The atoms bond with metal
(fairly weakly I guess) thus leaving a good coat on the metallic parts when
the oil isn't flowing. These intermolecular forces (bonding) would then
break upon oil flowing through the engine as the attraction between the oil
molecules is stronger than the attraction between the oil and metal
particles. That's my theory anyway.( I can't believe I actually used
something that I have learned at uni)
I know for sure that there is NO MAGNETISED METAL particles in the oil.
Imagine what that would do to your engine and not to mention Castrols
reputation.
