Brad,
Looks like we struck a blank on the H510
1800 in England - see Eddies reply below. Also note the domain name of his ISP;
sounds very Feral like eh. Eddie is quite knowledgable on the Datto scene in
Europe so I'll try to talk him into signing up on the Ozdat list, I'll tell him
we only get a dozen e-mails a day or something. He has a fleet of pommy datos
including the most beautiful and fully restored to original condition 710 SSS
Coupe you'd ever want to get hold of and he's just asked me about whether he
should buy a Gazelle S12 with FJ20DET complete car running with 60,000 miles on
it of a little old lady for 600 quid - jeez what's it worth in Aus considering
we pay ~$3K just for the driveline & puter to stuff into a 1600 and the
pommy car has a R200LS IRS rear end with 4 ventilated discs in it
too.

I've never heard of it! Is this a P510 body with an L18
or the later A10
body? Either way we didn't get them! The P510 was available
here as a 4door
sedan and wagon aswell as the 1300 and 1400 L-series powered
sedans (all
four door). I think the L13 and L14s are just 510 (rather than
P510). We
never got the SSS version although a few european countries did. (I
met a
guy in Norway who bought one new and wrecked it in less than a week!)
all
the SSS were L16 too.
I'm a little puzzled about this H510 chassis
code because logically you
would think that it was a RHD version of the HL510
as sold in the states
(hence the absence of L in the number) but I'm assuming
in this case it
refers to the L18 in what would otherwise be a P510.
And I
thought chassis codes were logical ! Doh!
Japanese 510SSS coupes are 1800 so
would they be a KH510? Did the RSA
produced H510 have the plastic grill and
tail light surrounds like the last
of the Japanese cars did? I assume these
would have built at Roslyn (sp?)
alongside 1200 sedans and utes.
Most
interesting...I'd like to know more :-)
Eddie
BTW how busy is the
Ozdat mailing list...if I subscribe to that and BBs and
Dimes at the same
time am I gonna be swamped in email?
