There are two types of ground effect car,
Venturi - with shaped undersides
Fan - with 'cooling' fan that evacuates air from under the car. Moving
aerodynamic aids are banned, so the fan was technically for cooling!
both use skirts.
The first venturi car was the Lotus 75 (I think)
The first fan car was actually the Chaparrel, but the first F1 fan car was
the Brabham.
It creamed the opposition, but was banned after its first race.
Cornering at 5G's all day, even if you don't crash, is also not good for
you, your back & internal organs.
