I'd like to challenge and add to some of that information :) But of course I
could be wrong aswell :)
Active suspension was only around from the late 80s to early 90s before it was
banned. The last car to have it was the Williams driven by Mansell and ? in
1994 I think. Records set by that car are only being beaten this year, which
shows how much they hampered the speed of the F1s.
That ground effects car was around in the late 70s I think. It consisted of
a giant fan in the middle of the car and skirting all around which sucked the
car onto the track. It only did one race which it won. Other teams complained
of it sucking up and spitting out debris and is was subsequently banned!
