I just look that up, yes the auto Wagon comes in at 1015 kg (2240 lbs, 1 sob
ton) which is 45 Kg heavier than the auto sedan and that means you can
legally put a 3 litre NA engine in a 510 wagon so go for it. Now that could
make a nice cruiser.. wide wheels... dual exhausts... lowered..... subs in
the boot.... stop it there, your dreaming again.

The US boys often use the inlet manifold off the carbie version 3 litre
Navara (did we get them? I don't think so but importer might have some) and
you don't really need EFI as the stock 300ZX quad cam EFI sort of pokes
through the firewall or the bonnet (major cutting), they just fit a decent
high flow fuel pump to feed a Holley 480 cfm 4bbl and which is just perfect
for Nissan V6 and isn't any slower than the EFI with a good exhaust etc. The
older twin cam engine puts out 113Kw (150hp) which doesn't sound like much,
you should be able to lift it to 200 hp easily but the quad cam version puts
out 168Kw (225hp) which is a bit more like it and of course the torque is
massive (you'll need good seats).

regards,

Terry (did I just increased the value of 510 wagons?)

Are the wagons heavier???

I've just spent too much time looking at American websites and now have a VG
itch!

Thanks,
Iggy

The regd tare weight for a 510 is 970 Kg but this is for the heaviest of
them which was a '72 GL auto. The registered tare of a manual 4 speed '71 is
910 Kg or just over 2000 lbs which is not helpful as a VG30 is 2960cc. This
means the 1600 is under weight by 16.7 Kg for the VG30 NA technically if you
wanted to fit one in a GL auto. I wonder how strict they are with this rule
or is it up to the engineer.

Terry

get the weight of your car and times it by 2.5 for legal turbo capacity or
by 3 for N/A legal limit

a 12a is considered 2.4 Ltr and the 13b is considered 2.6 Ltr

so for the 13b turbo your car must weigh 1040kg
