Richard
I haven't heard of a jet reamer as such
When I was racing m/bikes we used to use Mikuni carbs and methanol.. and there was no way mikuni made jets that big.. LOL
We used to buy jets from the distributors (generally trying to get the least common ones hoping they would sell em to us cheap, which they did usually)
Then it was off to WL Ryan in Elizabeth st in melb (are they still there?) and buy sets of "number" drills.. They used to have an amazing range and I am sure they would have the range u would be looking for. Not sure how much they would be these days but they were really cheap back in the 70's..Thats certainly where I would go first to look for a jet reaming tool.. Wish there was a WL Ryans on the gold coast..
The question is - why would u need to muck around with jets anyway?  I am sure there are enough guys on this list using webers on most of the common engine configurations and I for one would be happy to advise the jet sizes in my set up
maybe a data base of sizes is needed??
The tool u talk about does sound like a handy item tho
my 2cents plus gst worth
cheers
Mick

Subject: Altering jet sizes in your weber carbies.

We all know how expensive it is to play jet swaps in your multi webered L series.

An acquaintance who was into racing Alfa GTV's in the 1970's told me that he used to alter the jets in the weber carbs by using a jet reaming tool.  Basically its a multi stepped drill that you insert in the jet orifice and drill it out to the next size larger, then repeat until you get the to size that works best.

Here's the tricky bit, when they wanted a smaller size, no probemo, just solder up the orifice in the brass jet after measuring its size, and drill out to a smaller size using the jet reamer.

Anyone heard of these jet reamers and/or used the soldering and redrilling trick to alter carby jets?
