I have done this using a set of number drills, it works OK. Number drills
are very fine drill bits, sized according to a number from 1-100. They go
down to very fine diameters, I think the set I borrowed went down to around
0.25mm from memory. Quite a bugger sorting them out if you get some mixed up
:) An included chart has the diameters of each bit in mm and thousandths of
an inch.

A good idea is to keep one set of jets for drilling, then when you figure
out the required size, buy a proper set. A kit of Weber bits I borrowed also
had some air correction jet "blanks" with no holes in them for custom
sizing, you may also be able to get main jet blanks.

We all know how expensive it is to play jet swaps in your multi webered L
series.

An acquaintance who was into racing Alfa GTV's in the 1970's told me that he
used to alter the jets in the weber carbs by using a jet reaming tool.
Basically its a multi stepped drill that you insert in the jet orifice and
drill it out to the next size larger, then repeat until you get the to size
that works best.

Here's the tricky bit, when they wanted a smaller size, no probemo, just
solder up the orifice in the brass jet after measuring its size,and drill
out to a smaller size using the jet reamer.

Anyone heard of these jet reamers and/or used the soldering and redrilling
trick to alter carby jets?
