The number
drills are available in sets from 1.00mm (approx 100 Weber jet size) to 2.5 mm (approx
250 Weber jet size) drills for $300/set in 0.05mm increments. Redrills
are a bitch if you are retuning a car fitted with them as you have to
physically measure the jets to get an idea of size. Weber rate their jets on flow
for the size of the orifice rather than size. All weber jets are based on this
number system except idle jets and emulsion tubes. Cheers Feral Errol -----Original Message----- Does this work with down draught weber,

serious carbie businesses had a set of +.05mm jet reamers, they just looked
like drill bits to me but you could get jets modified from 1mm up to 2mm. I've
had some jets reamed over the years but the problem is identifying them. I
drilled a dimple in the side of them to indicate they .05 over what was printed
on them. The idea of soldering jets up didn't occur to me.regardsTerry -----Original
Message----- We all
know how expensive it is to play jet swaps in your multi webered L series. An
acquaintance who was into racing Alfa GTV's in the 1970's told me that he used
to alter the jets in the weber carbs by using a jet reaming tool. Basically
its a multi stepped drill that you insert in the jet orifice and drill it out
to the next size larger, then repeat until you get the to size that works best. Here's
the tricky bit, when they wanted a smaller size, no probemo, just solder up the
orifice in the brass jet after measuring its size, and drill out to a smaller
size using the jet reamer. Anyone heard of these
jet reamers and/or used the soldering and redrilling trick to alter carby jets? --membersozdat-------------------------------------------------------
