Title: RE: FJ20 - max power
SR superceeded the CA, not the FJ, money comes into play, that's why they stopped producing the CA
if was going to all out HP i would use a FJ,
all the quickest 4's are FJ's (except rigilo's),
as with the GTiR's, i have told by Murray Coote that they
are great in a straight line, but handle quite bad for a 4wd around corners.

i agree
the sr superceeded the fj, so it seems unlikely they would spend heaps of money developing a motor with a worse design than what they already had
might i add that the only reason pulsar gtirs failed as rally cars is cos of the top mount intercooler- overheating problems

I think the limit is caused more by the alloy block and not any design flaw.  Not many production alloy blocks that can handle that sort of power under 2L.

I understood that nissan spent megabucks developing the FJ24DET for
racing or rallying or something then couldn't actually use it so they
reworked it into the FJ20DET for production cars?
According to ZOOM: "the SR's factory weakness prevents reliable power
figures at more than 420hp from being obtained without the risk of the
    block cracking."
Thats apparently y JUN use liners for the cylinders to prevent this.
Doubt u'd have that problem with FJ's.
