Nick now that you say that ... i remebered somthing i had completely forgotten.. & that is that one of the pistons is lifting slower than the other & seems to be spitting a tiny bit of fuel out of the carb ... & i would say that it's running richer because i replaced one of the float with a float out of an early model su carb ..& so the float levels could be different too .... i amlooking at getting another float the same so that they are the same thing & getting another one spare just in casei have the float problem again.... the original float had collapsed ... so me & dad blew it back out with the compressor & re soldered the hole on the top & then it was leaking & also it was cracking around the sides .. anyway .... dad said to replace the oil in the carbs so that they are definetly the same grade oil .. then they are lifting at the same time .. sonow i presume that there is a few issues that are involved with this running on problem .. but the screw that i was talking about .. i dontthink it is the balance contrl ... this screw is on that is on the actual manifols .. the balance controller is up where the carbs are .. i will take a photo & send it in 5 mins!! thanx
Matt

Hey Matt,

I think that big screw that you are talking about is for adjusting the volume of the balance pipe.

There should be little lifting pins on the bottom of each carbrettor. With the engine idling you lift the piston a bit.
See what happens to the engine idle. It should go up for a bit, then back to normal.

It sounds like you have one carb running way too rich. Probably because the float level is too high or the sliding assembly is dirty.

go to http://home.istar.ca/~datsun/att06.htm for more information.
Good Luck!

Nick
