hi, if you spray 2-pak clear over aged acrylic ( or any acrylic) the 2 pak clear may crack . acrylic laquer is thermo plastic which makes it stretch or move (or become slightly pliable or soft) on very hot days. since the 2 pak clear does not move or become pliable in hot weather , and the acrylic does ,then if the acrylic does move undrneath th clear , th clear may crazy crack over time.
you should be very carefull abiout putting two pack clear over fresh acrylic paint ( not primer) because it may delaminate or seperate itself from the acrylic. 2 pak clear is really designed to go over COB ( clear over base coats) which are nitro cellulose based, not acrylic based. mark k ----- Original Message ----- From: "maldat" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 6:45 PM Subject: Re: (resprays) > 2 pac undercoat is the stuff most paint shops use now. > Very nice to spray, rub. > A lot of people say dont spray 2 pac clear over A type ,but if you use > real good 2 pak clear it should be ok. > Try it first on a small part(under the sill) > > Malcolm > > Ross Goddard wrote: > > > My mate who is the spray painter says that only the top clear layer is > > true 2 pak paint.
