Well that is not surprising because very few people are interested in a spiritual path as they are pew warmers. In the early 70's I lived there in Oakland and it was not much of a spiritual community then a doubt if it changed.. Berkley had a drug reputation.. There were always fringe cults but the fringes are just that fringes, unless you are looking for them they do not effect you other than just being there.
I was assigned that area from 69 thru 74 and that was the impressin I was left with,, Is the coffee roaster still in Emeryville?
