I need to pray to a personal God- not Jesus or the Holy Ghost or some
mathematical possibility. In this regard, I suppose it is akin to the
psalms. I certainly had years of Catholic ritual but like many friends
fell away from attendance when the Latin Mass was replaced with
vernacular services, guitars, advances from strangers, etc. Maybe
there was a Jewish link that was covered over- who knows? At any rate,
I no longer feel comfortable going to any church- and I have tried in
the past- protestant, unitarian, Catholic catechumen classes= no dice.
My prayers assume the unconditional love of God- that's what Hobbes
taught me.
