I don't see it as a direct replacement for my A2 16v.  I see it
as a great car that I personally have been waiting for and worth
parting with my beloved 16v.  I have always wanted an all wheel
drive VW in the A platform since I saw the first synchro golfs. 
I don't need the fastest car out there.  The car is very
technically advanced in many areas and for the price you get a
lot of car.  You may see otherwise.  I am in no way defending my
feelings for the car just providing my view point.

As far as not doing well in the CAR article.  The authors picked
it as the best all around car of the bunch.  

BTW, it was the Alfa 147 GTA.
